Extra-ordinary times present great oppurtunities

I just realized that when you find yourself in an extraordinary situation- there is a lot that you can do if you look past the rather grim and sombre situation that exists in the world today. The following illustrate the point:

  • The current socio-economic framework that exists today (good or bad- but I have reason to believe mostly good) was the outcome of two brutal wars that the world had witnessed. e.g. universal declaration of human rights;
  • The constitution of India- after a brutal and long freedom struggle;
  • The Indian economic liberalization of 1991 in the face of imminent bankruptcy which has lifted more people out of poverty in a country of approx. 1.3 billion in the last 29 years – only perhaps China has a better track record amongst the large countries (this is matter of a separate piece altogether and needs to be further investigated. For now the world bank data here is illustrative: (https://blogs.worldbank.org/opendata/which-countries-reduced-poverty-rates-most)
Whilst my personal situation is not as serious or as important as the above events. However, I do find myself in this unique situation of working from home in the middle of an extraordinarily difficult time for the world and each of its constituent’s. But as illustrated above- the incremental time (well I live in Mumbai so just by working from home you can save 2 unproductive hours in a day that is spent in traffic jams!!) has also presented an opportunity to write on key current issues.

In the coming days, I intend to write on key current issues. Endevour will be to write as accurately as possible based on facts and reliable data.

Needless to state, opinion will be personal and not attributable to my employer.

All inputs, counter-arguments, criticism as always are always welcome.

Hopefully at the end of all this- I would have developed a more disciplined writing routine.
